On August 16, 2013, in Jalal Nagar, Shajahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, 10 year old schoolgirl Afreen(आफरीन) was brutally killed by decapitation on her way to the nearby elementary school. Her parents refused to rent a room to the 47-year-old killer Firoz(फिरोज). Thus Feroz tracked Afreen and her 7-year-old sister Phalak(फलक) that morning, and hit Afreen's neck with a large garden hoe. Afreen died when her head was severed and fell to the ground. Phalak survived.
In July 2016, the sadistic murderer was sentenced to death by a court. There is no news on whether he has been finally executed however.
It should be noticed that Afreen's family members' names are most likely to be Muslim names. And there are indeed large Muslim communities in Jalal Nager. But the killer's name Feroz came from Persia, and is used among both Muslims and Parsis. Even if Feroz was Muslim, his motive was revenge obviously. There was a rumor that the girl was beheaded for receiving education by extreme Islamists, however it is not true.
Watched this video at LiveLeak, a shock site which is now gone. The title was "Headless Girl...". The image of a headless little girl in school uniform, school bag and flip-flops lying in a pool of blood is somehow ghasty. Does anyone have the original video?
